Ramping it Up!
We are in Day 6! So far you have learned most or all of two of your five songs. On Day 4 we talked about sharing what you are learning with someone else, either a friend or family member or a complete stranger. It really doesn’t matter as long as you experience music making with another person.
Yesterday we talked about recording yourself on your phone or any recording device that you have so that you can keep up with your progress.
Both of these steps are really important in helping you keep your motivation up. If you don’t have sharing of your talents and a way to record your progress, it is really hard to stay motivated. Why? As you have noticed so far, the actually learning of songs can be fun at times, but it can also be monotonous. When you supplement your learning with performance and playing with others, it adds a new dimension and helps you stay motivated.
Today, we start to have options. You should know most or all of your first two songs by now so from here on out as we learn our last 3 songs, you will have the option to go back to your original song and learn a harder part. This may be adding a chord or two in if you learned by playing root notes the first time through. This may be learning a riff that is in one of your songs that you didn’t learn before.
So today we are going to start learning our 3rd song by looking up the chords and going through the same process as we did for the first two songs and if you feel ready, trying a more challenging part in one of your first two songs.
What Practice Can Look Like
Review your first and second song with the recordings
Look up and add a more challenging part to either your first or second song
Rehearse that with the recording
Look up and learning one section of your 3rd song
