Option 1

The Shakedown starts with this riff with a big octave slide.  The first way of playing it is most likely the way The Score plays it on their record.  slow it down to help get accuracy on that big slide up to the 16th fret.

Option 2

The second way to play it keeps your fingers  within a few frets which will help with accuracy.  If I was playing this alone, this is the way I would play it.  By skipping that jump, from option one you significantly decrease the chance of making a mistake with the slide and you don’t lose very much by playing it slightly different from the recording.
